Pictures taken in Public places.
All of the meet pictures in this page are taken in public places. I make no secret of the fact that the pictures are going to be published, by me, on my website. Some people cannot make it to the meetings, being separated by thousands of miles and enjoy seeing the meet pictures. Likewise I appreciate some people do not like being photographed - So there is a dilemma.
I will ALWAYS publish POSED photographs as I feel the person(s) contained in those photographs are indicating a desire for the photograph to be taken.
Photos taken in a public place means the photos are the copyrighted property of the photographer, and as such the right to publish them remains with the photographer... For me, I try and take complimentary pictures where the subject is in a natural pose, with a neutral expression - These pictures I will also publish. If the facial expression is anything other than "neutral" or "smiling", then I choose on an individual basis whether or not to publish as I dont mean to belittle or demean the people I photograph.
If the primary subject, or persons within a photograph have masked, or are in the throes of masking their face in a deliberate attempt to avoid being photographed - I will NOT publish the individual picture or will edit the picture to remove the person who is "masking". Note; this is a courtesy and not a RIGHT... again, being a public place - the photographer owns the rights to publish or not.
On channel, you make yourself available to "the public", and by virtue of attending a channel meet at a public venue you "place yourself" into the public domain. I have made it clear that my webpage is not a official #England page, it is a place where I publish MY pictures of those I have met through the IRC - along with pix of those who want to be seen...
